“I’ve done everything right since the birth. So why is my stomach still not coming back?”
It is the question we hear more than any other.
She gave birth a few months ago. Sometimes a year ago. Sometimes more. She did her pelvic floor exercises. She is walking with the pram every day. She eats better than she did before she was pregnant.
And she still asks the same thing:
“Why isn’t my stomach coming back?”
What strikes us every time is that she feels guilty. As if she wasn’t doing enough. As if it were her fault.
It is not her fault. So we want to explain, once and for all, the thing nobody explains well enough.

You might recognise these thoughts
“I’ve lost the baby weight. The scale says I’m back. But my stomach says something else. Soft. Hanging. Sticking out even first thing in the morning.”
One of the thoughts we hear most often“In the morning it’s fine. By the evening I look four months pregnant again. Everyone says I’m exaggerating. But it’s my body, I know it.”
Especially common after a second baby“I’ve stopped looking in shop mirrors. I skipped the pool with the kids this summer. I’m hiding, and I hate it.”
Very common after a C-sectionMums who do everything right. Who fight for it. Who eat better, move more, never let up.
And who still feel guilty for not seeing a difference.

Short nights, night feeds, and a body that still doesn’t quite feel like yours.
Why nothing you have tried has worked
What we are about to explain, most women find out too late. Sometimes months. Sometimes years after giving birth.

Core work strengthens the muscles, but on its own it does not pull everything back in.
For nine months, everything inside your abdomen made room for your baby. Your uterus grew until it filled the whole abdominal cavity and pushed everything else up and out to the sides.
Your abdominal wall stretched. The muscles at the front of your stomach widened and lengthened. Many women are left with a gap down the middle, called diastasis recti.
After birth, the uterus shrinks back over around six weeks. But the stretched wall does not simply snap back by itself.
That stomach you cannot get rid of is often not extra fat. It is a structure that was stretched open, and it needs support while it recovers.
Here is why every usual solution falls short
- Sit-ups and crunches – They work the muscles, not the gap. Many physios even advise avoiding crunches in the early months with diastasis recti. Most women have no idea.
- Dieting – You can’t diet away a stretched abdominal wall. A calorie deficit takes fat, not looseness, and you need your energy for a newborn.
- Pelvic floor exercises – Essential. But they work the floor, not the walls. It’s like fixing the floor of a house and never touching the walls.
- Classic shapewear – It squeezes the front. Your stomach pushes out at the sides and the back. The moment you take it off, everything drops.
- Surgery – A tummy tuck costs thousands of pounds, leaves a hip-to-hip scar, and means weeks without lifting your baby. For most mums it is neither realistic nor affordable.

Many women end up thinking surgery is their only option. It isn’t.

The sentence that changes everything
There is one idea that explains why almost everything fails:
“Shapewear squeezes the front. But your body goes all the way around.”
That is the whole difference.Think about it for a second.
Your stomach is not a flat wall. It is a cylinder. It has a front, sides and a back.
Pressing only on the front is like trying to close a tube by pressing on one side of it. The pressure just moves somewhere else. It is never going to work.
What actually feels supportive is circular pressure. 360 degrees. Front, sides and back. Continuous and even.
What mothers around the world have known for centuries

The idea is simple: a length of fabric wrapped all the way around the belly.
In many cultures, women have known this for generations.
In Malaysia, Indonesia, Mexico and Morocco, women wrap their bellies after giving birth. Not for looks. For support.
In Malaysia the tradition is called the bengkung: a long strip of cloth wound many times around the belly and worn in the weeks after childbirth. In Mexico it is the faja.
360 degrees of continuous, circular compression. Front, sides and back.
The problem is that the traditional wrap is incompatible with modern life:
- Several metres of fabric
- Twenty minutes to put on
- Almost impossible to wrap by yourself
- Slides out of place within the hour
With a newborn, night feeds and barely five minutes to yourself, nobody keeps that up.
So we made the wrap wearable

That is why we created the Véluna High-Waist Postpartum Support Briefs.
We took the principle of the bengkung and put it into something you can actually wear every day.
Inside, crossover panels reproduce the circular hold of the traditional wrap, in a pair of briefs you pull on by yourself in seconds, wear under anything, and forget about all day.

High waist up to just under the bust · Invisible under clothes
- 360° support: front, sides and back
- Pulls on in seconds, like ordinary underwear
- Invisible under leggings, jeans and dresses
- Comfortable while nursing and after a C-section (once your midwife or doctor says it’s fine)
- Available from S to 3XL, in 4 colours
This is not a belt that crushes you flat while you wear it. It is gentle, even support that holds your belly while your body recovers.

Questions mums ask us
How do I choose my size?
Measure your waist today, not before pregnancy, and use the size guide on the product page. Between two sizes? Go up for gentler support.
Can I wear them after a C-section?
Many mums do. The high waist sits above the scar line. Wait until your midwife or doctor confirms your wound has healed, and always follow their advice.
Will they show under my clothes?
No. They are smooth and seamless enough to wear under leggings, jeans and fitted dresses.
What if they don’t suit me?
You have 60 days after delivery to return unworn items for a refund. Just email info@veluna-paris.fr with your order number.

If you gave birth months ago and your stomach responds to nothing, not training, not dieting, not pelvic floor exercises, ask yourself one question.
Has anything ever supported your belly all the way around?
Véluna. Gentle 360° support for the months after birth.
